Bermuda Aquatics, rates each skimmer with your best interest in mind.  Skimmers are rated to filter one time your tank volume per hour.  In that most skimmers are inefficient at skimming, the single tank volume per hour, is not nearly enough to actually remove sufficient amounts of complex organic substances such as decomposing food, urea, metabolic by-products, algae, phenols and bacteria.  A single tank volume per hour is enough for the BPS to maintain the safest water condition available for your tank. 

The secret is in the patent pending venturi which allows massive amounts of air to contact more surface area of the water while injecting into the vortex tube (models up to 48" in height).  Where it is processed further by the unique pre-mixing chamber that spins and breaks with tremendous force before entering the main chamber, where the foam is so condensed the skimmer body is almost completely white from the reflection of foam.
